Star quality

So here is another lo dedicated to my sister(yep! The same one who is cra-z about shoes!) This one is about how much she wants to become an actress. She's already with a drama team, and has taken several acting/drama classes and she still has her heart set on becoming an actress more than ever=)

I used little beads for the swirls.
So this year for Christmas, my 9 yr. old lil sis wanted to get everyone a gift. She only had about $5, so she was pretty dissapointed when she couldn't find something for everyone that was under $5 dollars each. So she started to make little home-made stuff out of paper and odd objects around the house=) Then one day, a neighbor of ours had a yard sale(by the way, this occured in October when it was still warm. Not December=). So, my lil sis went over and found a gift for everyone. And, it was a yard sale, so the little trinkets that she found all came to an amout of around $3. So she was definately one happy little gal! She finally found each member of the fam a gift, and she had money left over too! lol So, what I'm getting at is, the beads that I used for this lo were what I got for christmas from my lil sis. She told me that "they were the only thing she could find at that yardsale that had to do with scrapbooking". =D

I cut out and painted the little clipboard. ( I should go back and write the date on it=) The journaling is on the back of it, but our computer wouldn't let me upload the picture. Ugh! =)  The journaling reads: "Becoming an actress. This is the one thing that you've dreamed about becoming ever since you were old enough to even know what acting is. Acting is the one goal that you've tried so very hard to accomplish and you're definately on you way! Whether it's acting in plays on stage, or playing roles in your own home movies; you definately have talent and star quality at doing something that you love to do! So, I just want to tell you to keep on reaching for you dreams, babe! Becuase the further you go and the harder you work to reach your goal, the sweeter it is when you get there! Love your sis, Heidi"
I know, it's alot of journaling to fit on that tiny piece of paper! But I made it so that there's a piece of paper that folds out. I'll post a picture tomorrow so you can get a better visualization=)

And before I forget, here's todays sketch! Have fun!

Thanks for stoppin by!

Sketch week! - Shoes!

Well, Christmas is over! And I hope you had an awesome one!
Ok, so I thought that for this whole week, I'd assign you to a sketch that I designed(just for fun=)
I have lots of stuff to share! But to start off, here is sketch #1...

You can stick the journaling in there wherever you like=D

Now for the los! This is a lo that I did for a challenge at the scraproom club. They have some awesome, fun challenges each week and this week's challenge was to use a tag. So, this is what I came up with...

I traced and cut out chipboard letters for the title, and then I found pictures of the shoes that my sis likes, cut them out and glued 'em on! The main picture is one that I took of my sis wearing one of her favorite paires!

This lo is really dedicated to my 1st sis. She absolutely loooves any kind of shoe!(except for tennis shoes=) I'm afraid that I can't say the same thing about myself. The only shoes that i've ever rally loved are the kind that you can run in! LOL! I actually still have a pare of awesome running shoes that I got 4 years ago! I just can't part with them and they still work like a charm! lol

That's it for today. Not very much, I know. But I gotta add a little at a time so the computer won't freeze(definately don't want that to happen!) Once again, I hope you had a ver merry Christmas and have a fabulous New Year! Come back tomorrow to see more! Heidi

This is me...

Ok, so it's 6 more days 'till Christmas!!! Can you believe it? I finally just got all my x-mas shopping done and am ready to take a break! Well, I'll (as well as the rest of my fam) will be able to get some good rest tomorrow! My preschool class is over for the year; today is the last day that we have performances w/ choir; and all our Christmas shopping, planning, ect. is done with! So hallelujah! LOL!

So now onto the LO. I was just talking to a friend of mine the other day about how I rearely do LOs of myself. That's becuase I enjoy taking pictures of my family & friends much more than I do of myself. Of course, everyone has their own taste and their own way of scrapping, I just prefer doing LOs of my freinds & family=)
Although today I am posting a lo that I did of myself=D

My sister took the picture of me...she's really good!
The flowers that you see down at the bottom were originally pink, so I went over them w/ acrylics.

I roughly painted over a few pieces of small paper with (more) acrylics and then wrote on 'em=)

I "dazzled" the alpha 'Me' with copper glitter...

Here are 10 things that make me happy:
1.Drawing
2.Sports
3.Singing
4.Scrappin'
5.Photography
6.Hangin' w/ good friends
7.Music
8.Track
9.Painting
10. Watchin' football w/ dad
I didn't write them in order of favorites, I love 'em all!

That's it for today! If i don't post anything else before Christmas, I wanna wish you Merry Christmas! Thanks for stoppin by! Heidi

Challenge & awards!!! --Sing, Sing, Sing

"God sent his Singers upon earth with songs of sadness and of mirth, That they might touch the hearts of men, And bring them back to heaven again."

I love that quote! It's so true...
So here is a lo(well actually, it's a 2-page LO combined=) that I did of the choirs that I am in this year. This year, I am singing w/ 2 choirs: "The Voices of Angels" and the "La' Chiam Choir". My whole schedule for December is absolutley CRAZY! I have a performane every Sunday & Saturday with either one of the choirs and have practice every Thursday, Sunday, & Tuesday. Yeah, it's been really hectic around here! But I am just so grateful that I could participate in doing something I love=) Did I mention that I have 4 siblings singing along with me in one of the choirs? How much funner can it get! LOL!

So, as you can see, I combined both choir los to make a 2-page lo. I used a needle and black thread to attach the pages.
Here are some close-ups--...

Whenever I see or think about this LO it makes me think of the song "Sing, Sing, Sing" by Chris Tomlin. It is an awesome song with an awesome message! I wanted to somehow incorporate the song into this LO, but there wasn't enough room after I planned it all out=( Here are the lyrics though! LOL!"We will sing sing singGrateful that you hear us

We will sing, sing, sing

And make music with the heavens
When we shout your praise
Lift high the name of Jesus
What's not to love about you
Heaven and earth adore you
Kings and kingdoms bow down
Son of God
You are the One
You are the One
We're living for
You are the love that frees us
You are the light that leads us
Like a fire burning
Son of God
You are the One
You are the One
We're living for"

And you can listen to it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0zC8c17GFc

Something else that I forgot to mention=), I recieved an award from R.Barakat at http://www.letsembellish.blogspot.com/ ! She had a few to choose from, so I chose this one('cause I liked the colors!) Thanks, Rita! .....

...And now here is an award for you becuase you truly inspire me and I just absolutely L-U-V your blog!!!

Now, let's get down to buisness! So for this week, I'm going to "assign" you to a challenge! Soooo...the challenge is...
--to create a 1-page (or 2-page; it's up to you!) LO
--that consists of black & white photos.
--But there's a catch, the photos have to do something with what you and your family look forward to every winter (hmm...could it be decorating your christmas tree? The snow? Drinking hot cocoa together?)
So there's the challenge! Sorry, but no prizes are included in this challenge=) It's just for the fun of it! Maybe in the future I'll include a winner and some prizes;D  But for now, you're all winners!
Y'all have fun w/ the challenge and be sure to send me a link to where you posted it!
Thnx for stoppin' by!

Snow day!

Remember this picture?...

This picture was taken yesterday evening.
Now take a look!...

It snowed over 8 inches here last night and it is STILL snowing! You can see the huge piles of snow where we shovelled off the sidewalk. And yeah, we're literally snowed in! So I have lots of extra time today to do some scrappin! Yah! LOL

This is what I did w/ pics that I took of a few of my younger sibs. They were out building a snow fort and so they were at a perfect position for me to get some pics! But (of course) they had to pose for some shots! (They're seriously all hams! LOL!) And I also did use a sketch from 52 sketches for this LO. I love using sketches from 52 sketches!

I used a chipboard snowflake and then brushed around the edges with white acrylic paint to make the faded snowflakes on the paper.

The journaling says:
This morning we all woke up to find that it had snowed over 6in. of snow. With no hesitation, everyone all went out to build a snow fort and I stayed in to scrap! That's what I like best about snow days; we all get the best of both worlds!

That's it for today! I hope you have a very blessed and wonderful Christmas!

Happy Monday! - Sweet Pea

I hope you're having a fabulous Monday on this December day! Well, it's been WEEKS since I last posted a layout, I've been busy, busy, busy! But I'm back on schedule and have lots to share! Every Tuesday I ( with the much needed help from 2 of my sisters) teach a preschool class for 2 hrs. That once-a-week class takes up alot of my time with prep. and sorting/figuring everything out for next weeks class. All together, there are 9 kids in my class and let me tell you, trying to teach 9 kids their shapes, numbers, and colors while at the same time trying to interact with them is NOT an easy task=)
Every Tuesday, my lil sis in this LO asks me if she can "go to preschool" with her big sister. She's only 2 yrs. but is so...."big" I guess is the word. She loooves to sit down and read (or look=) at books. She's always coloring (usually on the walls). And she's so intent on everything and notices everything so closely.

The title for this lo is so true! My lil' sis is the absolute cutest sweet pea! She's always playing with & loving on her younger sibs.
I know it's December and I should be doing wintery LOs, but I like to scrap what I feel like scrappin'=) So, today I felt like scrapping a spring-feeling page=D

Here she is doing one of her favorite things: swinging. She'll seriously swing the whole time at a park while everyone else is doing the monkey bars or sliding down the slide.

For the title, I used shipboard letters and painted them pink and green, then I roughly went over the pink ones with green and the green ones with pink to give them a faded look.

I couldn't help but paint this chipboard flower then doodle on it! (Typical for me=) LOL! I also did the little lines on the ribbon with a marker.

As I'm writing it's snowing outside (my younger sibs are running aroung the house right now yelling "It's snowing! It's snowing!") I can tell you right now that the hats, gloves, scarfs & coats are going to get pulled out of the closet any minute now=) LOL! There isn't even that much snow out yet! But what can you expect from toddlers?

Thanks for stoppin' by and be sure to come back it a couple of days! Peace & blessings!

Snail-mail cards

Card # 1:

So here are a few cards that I made. I ONCE AGAIN waited to long to take the pictures and so I ended up having to take them inside=( I don't like taking LO pictures inside, but I was "craving" to post something so I couldn't wait=) LOL!

You know those cheap/fake bouquets that you can buy at walmart or any other store that sells them? Well we had one of those "cheap" bouquets laying around the house for EVER! And it was pretty obvious that they were going to head for the trash can any time, so I decided that those flowers could be put to some real good use=) I used orange, yellow & brown acrylic paint to give them a make-over! (They were originally white).

I used chipboard letters for the "you". They were originally pruple, so I painted over them with more acrylic paints and tryed to give them a distressed look! (Do I have to tell you how much I love acrylics? Or is it obvious? =) LOL!

Card #2:

This is my favorite one! I loooooove pretty much all shades of blue and purple, so...yeah. I really like this one!!! =)

I once again used flowers from the "ugly bouquet" and acrylics for these flowers.

Card #3:

This one is really kinds simple. The tree is a chipboard tree that I covered with copper glitter. Then I used red ribbon, more copper glitter for the little doodle up top. That's pretty much it! But hey! I like simple(well, sometimes=) JK!)

You have a marvelous new week and check back soon! I have more stuff to share! Bless you! -Heidi

Girlie-girl

I felt like a change so I decided to "spice" my blog up for the holidays! What do ya think? =D

I might as well admit it right now, I'm horrible when it comes to the titles! I just get...stuck! So, I usually use for the title whatever the picture makes me think of. So, this picture of my sis made me think of how much she loves fashion and girlie-girl things!

I cut the flowers out of cardstock, layered a few of them, chalked a few pink, and then finished them off with silver glitter! Luv it!

                                                           A close-up of the journaling...

I usually print out the journaling, but once in a while i'll use my own hand writing...which is what I did here(as you can tell=) Not the best when it comes to handwriting=D

I rolled up the corners of the page to give it an old, weathered-up, "scrappy" feeling(which I always love=)

This frame was originally hot-pink! So I chalked it and weathered the edges. (My sis does like pink, but a hot pink frame would have been WAY to much pink for one LO!) LOL
